Kinross College has introduced a program intending to enhance college spirit and identity. To get the students to work together to achieve a common goal, they are grouped into houses and made to compete in friendly sporting activities. There are leadership opportunities in this regard as well.
Beyond sporting activities, the students are also encouraged to extend this sense of oneness to their academics and community services. This program was designed in the form of a house system.
There is provision for health care services in the students’ service program as well. There is a nurse who serves in a lot of capacities regarding student services. A Community Health Nurse whose primary function is to help the college with health education and health promotion services. Students who need help with psychosocial and physical health issues are advised to visit the nurse. The nurse is also quite helpful regarding adolescent issues such as puberty, mood swings, and depression.
Kinross College works alongside the Community Health Nurse to come up with effective and efficient ways to approach and deal with the needs of all the students in matters relating to health.
Students are encouraged to seek help when they are going through some unavoidable adolescent issues. Some of these issues include depression, peer pressure and confusions about puberty. One of the aims of Kinross College is to raise children that are well rounded in every aspect.
