Student Services

Catering to Students Needs

At Kinross College, there is a team that is responsive to the health and general wellbeing of the students. This team is known as the student services team. It aims at providing and encouraging a positive environment on the college grounds.

The school aims to provide the students with leadership opportunities. The members of this team include two student services managers, a nurse, a psychologist and a chaplain. All these people work together to promote the students’ mental, physical and emotional health and wellbeing.

To ensure that every student is adequately attended, students are grouped. Each group has its mentor, who is a teacher at Kinross College. Each student is expected to not engage in the bullying and harassment of other students. This way, every student is free from bullying and harassment. Kinross College encourages good values such as compassion, tolerance and consideration.

One-on-one counselling is a service offered by Kinross College. This has been put in place also to ensure the complete and healthy mental state of the students. Students with healthy mental states can learn adequately and function properly academically.

They also treat everyone around them well. It has been discovered that one of the causes of negative public behaviour is an unhealthy mental state. Students who have this problem can talk to any of the members of the students’ services team.

  • Kinross College has introduced a program intending to enhance college spirit and identity. To get the students to work together to achieve a common goal, they are grouped into houses and made to compete in friendly sporting activities. There are leadership opportunities in this regard as well.

Beyond sporting activities, the students are also encouraged to extend this sense of oneness to their academics and community services. This program was designed in the form of a house system.

There is provision for health care services in the students’ service program as well. There is a nurse who serves in a lot of capacities regarding student services. A Community Health Nurse whose primary function is to help the college with health education and health promotion services. Students who need help with psychosocial and physical health issues are advised to visit the nurse. The nurse is also quite helpful regarding adolescent issues such as puberty, mood swings, and depression.

Kinross College works alongside the Community Health Nurse to come up with effective and efficient ways to approach and deal with the needs of all the students in matters relating to health.

Students are encouraged to seek help when they are going through some unavoidable adolescent issues. Some of these issues include depression, peer pressure and confusions about puberty. One of the aims of Kinross College is to raise children that are well rounded in every aspect.
